Core stabilization exercises plus a lacto-vegetarian diet appears to reduce pain and improve body composition in women with fibromyalgia

In March 2018 researchers from Spain published the results of their study to assess the effect of core stabilization exercises and a lacto-vegetarian diet on low back pain and body composition in women with fibromyalgia. A total of 21 women were divided into three groups, each group undertaking either core stabilization exercises plus a lacto-vegetarian diet, placebo plus a lacto-vegetarian diet and a control group. Assessments of pain and body composition were performed at the start of the study and again at the end of the 4-week study period. Results showed that those undertaking the core stabilization exercises plus consuming a lacto-vegetarian diet had significant pain reduction at the end of the study. It was also noted that their total fat mass had decreased whilst their muscle mass had increased.
