Cinnamon supplementation appears to significantly decrease body weight, BMI, waist circumference and body fat

In February 2019 researchers from Iran published their review of the medical scientific literature to assess the effect of cinnamon supplementation on obesity. A total of 12 studies involving 786 individuals were included. Results showed that cinnamon supplementation significantly decreased body weight, BMI, waist circumference and body fat. A further analysis revealed that a greater effect from the cinnamon supplementation was experienced by individuals aged under 50 years and with a BMI of over 30. Cinnamon supplementation of over 2 g/day was seen to significantly reduce body fat when administered for a period of over 12 weeks.
