Initial studies show that vitamin E, East Indian Sandalwood oil, melatonin, L-histidine, and Manuka honey may be beneficial in atopic dermatitis

In December 2018, researchers from the USA published their review of the medical scientific literature to assess the use of complementary and alternative therapies in atopic dermatitis.  A total of 15 studies were included in their review.  Results showed that treatments such as vitamin E, East Indian Sandalwood oil, melatonin, L-histidine, and Manuka honey showed positive clinical benefits, although there is currently not enough evidence to recommend their use in atopic dermatitis. The researchers recommended that further studies are warranted with a larger sample size which is more reflective of the general population with atopic dermatitis.
