A greater adherence to a Mediterranean diet is significantly associated with a lower risk of frailty in older individuals

In April 2018 researchers from the UK published their review of the medical scientific literature to assess the association between adherence to a Mediterranean diet and frailty in older individuals. A total of four studies were included in the review and involved 5,789 individuals, aged over 60 years, who were followed up for an average of 4 years. Results showed that a greater adherence to a Mediterranean diet was associated with significantly reduced risk of frailty.
