Mat Pilates appears to improve balance, lower limb strength, hip and lower back flexibility, and cardiorespiratory fitness in individuals over the age of 60 years

In June 2018 researchers from Brazil published the results of their review of the medical scientific literature to assess the effect of mat Pilates on the physical functioning in individuals aged over 60 years. Nine studies were identified and of these five were considered to be of high quality. Results showed that mat Pilates appeared to improve balance, lower limb strength, hip and lower back flexibility, and cardiorespiratory fitness.
