Listening to music during labour appears to decrease anxiety levels, heart rate and blood pressure levels

In May 2019 researchers from Taiwan published their review of the medical scientific literature to assess the effectiveness of music in reducing anxiety levels among women during labour. A total of 14 studies involving 1,310 individuals were included in the review. Results showed that those who listened to music experienced a significant decrease in anxiety levels, heart rate and blood pressure levels when compared to those who had not listened to music.
